About the Role

Hoge Fenton is actively seeking a full-time Litigation Paralegal to join our San Jose office. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a minimum of 4 years of litigation experience. The ideal candidate will perform substantive legal tasks to assist litigation attorneys across multiple practice groups, primarily focusing on the Business Litigation practice group.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analyze legal sources, including statutes, judicial decisions, and legal articles, preparing summaries and reports for attorney review
  • Draft, organize, and file legal documents and correspondence within the firm’s document management system
  • Compile and prepare draft discovery responses while ensuring compliance with case deadlines and court requirements
  • Collect, categorize, and interpret data, utilizing eDiscovery software to organize and analyze electronically stored information
  • Review reports and records produced by opposing counsel and coordinate requests among multiple parties involved in litigation
  • Prepare for and attend depositions, summarizing transcripts to support our litigation efforts
  • Coordinate all details before, during, and after trial, which may include attendance and assistance during trial
  • Accurately record daily billable and non-billable hours in the firm’s timekeeping system, ensuring detailed and timely submissions
  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to all legal and ethical standards as outlined by both the firm and the legal profession
  • Foster teamwork and cooperation by working productively with colleagues and other personnel
  • Continuously learn and develop new skills necessary for the position

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program; applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree or certificate per Business and Professions Code section 6450(c)
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of substantive legal work experience as a paralegal
  • At least 3 years of litigation calendaring and court filing experience required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, and court rules and procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; familiarity with PowerPoint, NetDocs, ProLaw, and Disco is a plus
  • Strong word processing skills, especially in formatting pleadings and redlining documents
  • Ability to manage the workload for three or more attorneys with keen attention to detail and strong proofreading abilities
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, particularly under pressure
  • Proven capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with attorneys, clients, vendors, court personnel, and staff

Pay range

The hourly base salary range for this position is $44 to $50, reflecting the firm’s good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be influenced by factors such as years of experience, qualifications, and skill set.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with occasional overtime required. After a successful onboarding period, candidates may request a one-day-a-week remote work schedule.

Office Location

This position is based in our San Jose (Silicon Valley) office.
