Job Overview

The SEO Content Manager has the primary task of owning the optimization and delivery of content to support NAV43 digital properties and client strategies. As an SEO Manager, you must have a strong understanding of keyword research, topical clustering, and competitive analysis. A firm grasp on heading structures, interlinking strategy, and the ability to create content worthy of links are essential. You must have strong copywriting and editing skills with a strong grasp of content and analytics. The ability to manage contractors within writing, design and development will be essential for the scalability of your role.

As an SEO Manager, you will be responsible for developing content analysis, competitive analysis, keyword research, topic suggestions, managing content calendars, and overseeing the deployment of content on websites effectively and efficiently. You will work closely with clients' content teams, various writers, and manage multiple content calendars, requiring adaptability and excellent project management skills. The nature of weekly sprints, monthly content calendars, and working with multiple CMS's and editors necessitates proficiency in our project management, Clickup.

You will need to create very detailed briefs for optimization and net new content, and be comfortable working in various CMS's. Staying up-to-date on EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) and HCU (Helpful Content Update) is crucial. Developing quarterly content calendars that align with client goals and objectives for both e-commerce and lead gen clients will be a key responsibility. Leveraging AI to assist in brief creation and having a keen eye for quality content and the ability to QA poorly written content are also important skills.

You will also support the SEO Director with SEO-related tasks such as reporting and health checks. Great content is at the core of our brand's SEO strategies, and we are looking for someone who can not only bring SEO expertise but also content strategy to the table.

The role will be client-facing, and the individual must be able to discuss content creation and optimization with clients as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough keyword research, topical clustering, and competitive analysis to inform content strategies and create comprehensive content roadmaps
  • Create detailed briefs for optimization and net new content, ensuring a strong focus on heading structures, interlinking strategy, and content worthy of links
  • Perform on-page content optimization and create metadata that adheres to SEO best practices
  • Develop and manage quarterly content calendars that align with client goals and objectives for both e-commerce and lead-gen clients
  • Collaborate with marketing and design teams to plan and develop site content, style, and layout
  • Utilize various CMS's to optimize and publish content according to SEO policies and best practices
  • Manage a content team of freelance writers, designers and developers
  • Review, edit, proofread, and improve writers' posts to maintain brand consistency and SEO standards
  • Integrate affiliate marketing practices (monetization strategies) into content when appropriate
  • Leverage AI tools to assist in brief creation and streamline content production processes
  • Demonstrate a keen eye for quality content and the ability to QA poorly written content
  • Use content management systems and analytics tools to analyze website traffic, user engagement metrics, and overall SEO performance
  • Manage content distribution to online channels, including email and social media platforms, to increase web traffic and audience engagement
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest SEO & content developments, including EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) and HCU (Helpful Content Update), and generate new ideas to draw the audience's attention
  • Perform comprehensive SEO health checks for clients' websites, analyzing factors such as on-page optimization, technical SEO, backlink profile, and overall website performance
  • Generate detailed and actionable SEO reports, including key performance metrics, insights, and recommendations for optimizing website performance and achieving business objectives
  • Monitor and track SEO performance metrics using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and third-party SEO software, providing regular updates and performance reviews to clients
  • Demonstrate understanding of non-paid link campaigns and building linkable assets for organic growth

Qualifications

  • At least 4+ years of proven work experience as an SEO Content Manager or equivalent
  • Experience in an agency environment with a focus on lead gen and e-commerce
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field is a bonus
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices and experience with SEO-driven content
  • Knowledge of keyword research, topical clustering, and competitive analysis
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English
  • Proficiency in various Content Management Systems (CMS), especially WordPress (Other CMS experience is a bonus)
  • Experience with SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Semrush, Surfer SEO and Ahrefs
  • Ability to develop a creative strategy that leads to original content and provokes engagement, and is well-positioned for SEO
  • Understanding of EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) and HCU (Helpful Content Update) principles
  • Experience managing a content team and working with freelance writers
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work with multiple clients, content teams, and calendars simultaneously
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment with weekly sprints and monthly content calendars
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as ClickUp
  • Keen attention to detail, as well as good organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client-facing interactions
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex problems related to SEO and content optimization
  • Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest SEO and content trends, technologies, and best practices
